LaGrange Toyota delivered a 2021 Jeep Gladiator to my home after dark. The next morning, a daylight inspection revealed the 38-inch Nitto Ridge Grappler tires are completely unsafe and not roadworthy. The safety stamp (DOT 73JL4N50321) proves these tires were made in mid-January 2021, making them exactly 5 years and 9 months old. The rubber has severe ozone cracking (dry rot) and deep splits running straight through the tread valleys. On top of that, three of the tires are held together by temporary roadside string plugs that are actively splitting out of the brittle rubber. According to official NHTSA and USTMA safety standards, tires with this level of structural degradation and temporary external plugs are an immediate, catastrophic highway blowout hazard. To lock in this $30,855.43 deal, sales rep Jacob Howard sent me a video walkaround explicitly promising the Jeep was "tastefully modified everything done the correct way." When I sent him photos of the rotting rubber the next morning, he flatly texted "I wouldn't have known that sir," but immediately doubled down to protect the deal by claiming "there isn't anything wrong with them, they have plenty of life left." For a representative of LaGrange Toyota to issue a definitive safety assurance immediately after admitting he had zero knowledge of the defects constitutes a deceptive trade practice. General Manager Michael Stogner and Sales Manager Brandon Dearth have completely ignored my emails. They negligently sent a family out on the highway on dangerous blowout hazards just to protect their profit margin. Avoid this dealership.
